About Drunken Fist

Drunken Fist is a martial arts podcast published twice a month and is made possible by Drunken Fist fan club member contributions. As a podcast, Drunken Fist is an offshoot and continuation of the widely popular podcast The David Bordeaux Show.

We wanted to create the opportunity that we wished we had when we were young martial arts students coming up the ranks. Drunken Fist gives listeners the opportunity to hang out with two martial arts instructors, from different martial arts backgrounds, as we have a drink (who are we kidding, we’ll have more than just one drink) while having candid, heretical, and often hilarious discussions about a variety of martial arts topics.

Ultimately, as this is a podcast for our listeners and it evolves from their input.

Meet The Hosts

David Bordeaux

David, a K-8 Phys Ed teacher and martial arts performance coach, would love to live in a world where everyone’s able to realize their true fitness potential, and where there’s an authentic Detroit-style pizzeria on every corner.

David has trained in martial arts for over 20 years, and has been an instructor for over 15. He holds a Bachelors of Science in Education degree in exercise science from Bowling Green State University. In addition to the above, he is also a certified fitness trainer (ISSA), a certified personal trainer (ACE), and a certified specialist in martial arts conditioning (ISSA).

When he’s not pouring over the latest scientific research on athletic performance conditioning and adaptation, you can find him doing his best to combine permaculture and square foot gardening in his minuscule patio “garden,” and optimistically working to create a ketogenic Detroit-style pizza. (Seriously, he loves Detroit-style pizza.)

Justin is a middle school social studies teacher and martial arts instructor, who works to inspire people of all ages and cultures to have a global view when learning. He believes that people have more in common than they have differences.

Justin’s a third-degree black belt in Japanese Jujutsu, a first-degree black belt in Aiki-jutsu, and has been a practitioner of Kung Fu for over 10 years. When he’s not molding and challenging the minds of students, Justin enjoys spending time with his two dogs, hiking Arizona’s wilderness with his wife, Karen, and doing his best to live every day like it’s the weekend.
